Welcome to the
Porsche 924 1976 Archive
A little corner of cyberspace dedicated to a 50-year-old Porsche, the open road and the people we meet along the way.
It’s unbelievable how much joy this little red 1976 Porsche 924 has already brought into our lives!
A car with a little history, a lot of character and a habit of turning an ordinary drive into something worth remembering.
Now, we’re documenting the journey. The drives, the details, the unexpected encounters and the growing community of people who share our enthusiasm for classic cars.
It’s about the cars — but it’s also very much about the people we meet along the way.

Meet our 1976 Porsche 924
Front-engine. Water-cooled. Rear transaxle. A special kind of Porsche.
Built in 1976, our Porsche 924 is one of the earliest examples of a model that marked a bold new chapter in Porsche's history.
With its distinctive wedge-shaped silhouette, pop-up headlights and beautifully balanced transaxle layout, the 924 was never quite like the other Porsches.
And that's exactly why we love it.
When we found ours for sale in Skagen, Denmark, we fell for the design, the simplicity and its slightly underrated “dark-horse” history.
Only later did we discover just how early our car was. According to our chassis number research, it was among the first 900 cars produced!
Almost 50 years later, she's still on the road.
Not perfect. Not over-restored. And all the more interesting for it.
Community mattersGood cars. Good people. Great stories.
Almost as soon as we brought our 924 home, we were welcomed into a community of classic Porsche owners, transaxle enthusiasts and people with a shared love of cars with character. That warm welcome has meant so much to us — and introduced us to people we now enjoy spending time with.
Along the way, our own little “transaxle club” has started taking shape: a group of drivers who are always up for a meet-up and a chat about our wounderful cars.
From spontaneous conversations in car parks to getting everyone together for talks, drives and other activities, we’re discovering that one of the best part of this journey might just be the people we get to meet!
Own a transaxle Porsche? Love classic cars? Or just here for the pop-up headlights?
Say hello and reach out!
Turns out, owning an old Porsche is a pretty good way to meet people.
Them transaxel pop-ups ❤
Notes from the road
An ongoing journal of life with a classic Porsche.
Some stories are about the cars. Others are about the places we go, the people we meet and the little moments that make it all worthwhile.
Think of it as a collection of memories, rather than a traditional car blog.
